"If unable to put the vehicle in Neutral..." That's taken from the Toyota press release you posted. Apparently there are instances when Neutral might not be selectable. Anyway, I did some Googling and came up with a lot of interesting info. This problem's been around for a few years and though Toyota issued a recall, complaints of auto-acceleration has repeatedly fallen on deaf Toyota ears.
