While I buy used and this may tend to steer me to used Saabs for the next car, the majority of car buyers aren't like me. If I were buying new today I would likely look elsewhere because Saab's offerings are coming up short. If Saab is going to be successful it really does need to offer what people want but with designs, engines, drivelines, and suspensions that make it stand out. Howabout 50 mpg XWD turbo diesels? Or turbocharged hybrids? Hatch and trunk models. Etc.
It is harder and harder for cars to be really different these days and IMHO it's going to be a rough road for Saab. While owner loyalty is a help, even us hard-core types (I have 4 Saabs currently and have driven them since '84), will vote with their wallets if the company doesn't offer what we need.
And remember, most car buyers don't care that much about the stuff Saab loyalist treasure. My wife, for example likes her 9-5 wagon just fine, but she'd likely be just as happy in a Venza, a Volvo, or a Ford Edge. Maybe even a Forester.
I hoping for the best from Koenigsegg but not holding my breath.
