('96 SAAB 9000 CSE, +600k miles) and I drove it EVERY winter in all kinds of adverse conditions with plenty of salt (and seaside salt) and it has 0.0 rust. The key is washing the underside whenever you can in the winter and inspecting the underside every spring, or first thaw. It's all in the owner's manual. These cars were made for a cold climate.
