Are you looking to drive this as your everyday car or is it something you'll just drive for fun on weekends? As a weekend car they're fine but as an every day car not so much. The automatics are real gas guzzlers, I never got more than about 20 MPG with mine (strictly highway) and 16/17 wasn't unusual. Both transmissions are a bit on the weak side and rebuilt auomatics are geting hard to find. Plus they have a few wrinkles that only Saab specialists know about. It's getting harder and harder to find people who know how to work on C900's. In spite of living in a really big Saab town (I had a choice of several mechanics for my newer Saabs), when my mechanic retired I couldn't find anyone who knew more about my C900 than I did. I sure wouldn't want to brake down in Iowa as an example. Most people who have them do some work themselves--if you have to pay a mechanic to do everything you'll soon be unhappy. The C900 is like no other car to drive but newer Saabs are better at almost eveything (faster, smoother, quieter, safer) and might be a better choice. Drive a few Saabs (C900s and newer stuff)and see what you think.
