What many of us (here) believe is that SAAB has always placed great emphasis on building safe cars, while (most) other manufacturer's place emphasis on passing crash tests.
I really wished that SAAB placed more advertising emphasis on safety, but at least for the USA driver, I guess it's not as important as 0-60 and cupholders.
A co-worker has his Cadillac DTS in the body shop after hitting a deer. He showed me a couple of pictures. There didn't appear to be that much deformation of the front end, but he did comment on the driver door bottom sill being damaged.
I have seen pictures of SAAB's that took tremendous front (or rear) hits, yet the cabin is still intact.
I think all cars have gotten safer lately, but...
