...I have a E-510 that I purchased in 2007. I have a 14-42mm (28-84 equiv), 40-150mm (80-300mm equiv) and a 70-300mm (140-600 equiv).

The 2x crop factor on the "Four Thirds" Olympus cameras are great. For under $300 I got a telephoto lens that has the reach of a 600mm 35mm equivalent. Amazing! The optical quality of the Olympus Zuiko lenses is great. The cameras are well built and ergonomic, and the prices are affordable considering the features offered.

Downsides are the 2x crop factor, which is great for telephoto, but it's harder on the wide angle side of things. Also, the image sensor is slightly smaller than what Canon and Nikon use, so the camera can be a little noisier at very high ISOs, but still very good.

I can't say anything bad about Canon and Nikon, they make excellent cameras and are the most popular for a reason. But, Olympus makes very good stuff as well, they are just a smaller player in the DSLR field..yet very innovative - features often appear first on Olympus cameras before Canon and Nikon....like the sensor dust removal system. (hmmm...sounds like SAAB!!)

Link below is to some of my photos - some of which were taken with my Olympus E-510. Some older ones were taken with my old Olympus C-750 Ultra Zoom "point and shoot".
