He needs to be serious about Medical Training.
He needs to make a commitment either to a relationship that may end or may end in divorce, or to a serious profession that requires sacrifice and single mindedness.
He needs to blanket the country with applications to ensure acceptance to a medical school.
I'm sorry, I know my words are forcefull and direct.
I speak as a physician. If I were on an interview team and a candidate told me he chose my program because it would allow him to be near his girlfriend, I would blackball his application because he would appear to not be serious. He would appear immature and not dedicated.
You and he need to be realistic.
She moved away. She did what was good for her. She decided to take a job at Yale and move away of her own accord.
She made a mature decision to do follow her destiny. That also means that she will be in a long distance relationship. Realistically, guys there will be trying to meet her. Your son needs to move on.
Your son needs to concentrate on his destiny.
As a physician, he will have no problem finding a new fiance, but as a student he will not have nearly the same level of success being accepted in medical schools in today's highly competitive environment unless he is a prodigy.
Sorry for being the voice of realistic expectations.
You are the father. Steer him in the proper direction. Steer him away from distrations and towards a successful career.
Sorry,
U2bC
