My experience with grads from the Ivy League schools (especially Harvard) goes back to the early eighties.

I think it really depends on the individual. Some people just wear their school as a badge of honor and for whatever reason need to let others know they went someplace with a big name. Of course there is justifiable pride in having gotten through say, Harvard Law, B-school, med school, etc., but the equivalent programs at most other schools aren't exactly a day at the beach.

What's really interesting is that a few years out of school it really doesn't matter very much, except to some employers and to brighten up one's resume. In some ways the network one gets from these schools is more valuable than the actual education.
