and give the job to someone who is more deserving. If a job offer that is 2-3 times the current going rate for new college graduates is not enough to dissuade her from taking a year-long vacation, perhaps she is just not ready to work. Considering that she is getting the job offer through nepotistic connection instead of any particular merit-qualification of her own, she may well lose the job anyway in the not too distant future or the organization itself may well fold (what other inefficiencies are there in that institution . . . as the old saying goes, if you see one roach . . . )
Other snooze buttons on life include graduate degree programs of various sorts. Women tend to have very different time preferences from that of men. Men tend to assign almost equal value to vacation now vs. vacation 5 years in the future; women OTOH understand quite well that while they are center of the universe at 21, in another 15+ years no one will give them the time of the day, except for their grumpy old husbands. In the long run, it's hard to tell which perspective is closer to the truth, or two very different realities facing the different genders to begin with.
