I will probably be criticized for saying this the hard ass way, but skip the travel plans. You went to school to get a career, school is over, mom and dad supported you through it, now its time to go to work. Vacations are for travel.

Using the How to Win Friends and Influence People methodology, I would encourage her to take the high paying job and build her resume for a couple of years while she can. With experience, she could trade up to a job in her field with international travel or an overseas assignment. To be a graduate with no experience and have a high paying job offer in this economy is unheard of, it would be a sin to waste it. I see too many graduates with $75,000 plus school loans begging for jobs that pay a lot, lot less. And I don't see it getting better in the future anytime soon, like maybe 5-10 more years of this economic malaise.

As someone who has had to interview a lot of recent graduates, I never put a lot of value in "after graduation, I took some time off to travel". It suggests a maturity issue, delayed adolescence; they were/are not ready to take on the responsibilities of a career. But then again, I'm a hardass.

A pass on this high paying job (for a graduate with no experience - did I mention that?) could lead to two or more years of unempoyment and then settling for a job at a lower pay rate and limited long term opportunity. Two years from now, when there are even more graduates competing for entry level jobs, which would she rather be asking someone: "What managerial positions would you have for someone with my education and real world work experience?" or "Leave room for milk?"

If she turns the job down, let us know where it is; someone would be happy to get it.
