1971 Base Capri with the 1.6 litre engine. Bought it in '74 with major rust issues. I had it all fixed up but that car had so many Lucas electrical gremlins and finally a transmission issue that I realized that I would be better off making payments on a new car that was reliable than keeping the Capri alive.
Living in Canada at the time I narrowed down my choices to a 75 Austin Marina (zzzzz...), 75 Datsun B210 Hatchback (Aqua with honeycomb wheelcovers UGLY!) or a 75 Toyota Corolla coupe (nice looking car!). Went with the Toyota which was a great decision but after driving that car awhile with a 1.2 litre engine I vowed to never buy an underpowered car again! Traded it in 3 years later on a 78 Corolla liftback and got $400 less in trade than I paid for it.
