Man, you people are making me feel old!
My 1st car was a Toyota Corona. Never heard of that model? That's because they haven't made them in years... but they did in 1964!
I bought the '64 in 1978(?) for $35.00 in "stuck-at-side-of-highway and needs to be towed" condition. Turned out it had a seized motor and I learned all about how not to rebuild a motor with that car. Nevertheless it was a pretty good car overall and served me well for a couple of years until the motor seized again.
One of my memories from that car was that it came with the drivers-side outside mirror missing. So I bought a universal one at the auto-parts store. The mounting holes of course didn't line up so when I went to install it I had to drill new ones. I went out to the car with a hammer and nail intending to make punch marks to drill the holes. Placed the nail, gave it a tap and... it went right through the sheet metal! Not exactly the solidest car ever built.
