All of the cars I've owned have had their limitations but none have ever been a POS.

Starting in 1975:

'67 Plymouth Valiant -- inherited from grandmother. Middle sister hits 3 of 4 quarter panels and then rolls the car (she still can't drive!). I got it after we bough the car back from the insurance company. Died at 250K miles.

'71 Chevy Impala -- Light green with dark green vinyl roof and dark green vinyl seats. Stylin'! 350ci 2-barrel. Great car. Died of rust.

'80 VW Rabbit L. White on light blue. I looked like The Man from Glad (if you know who that is, consider yourself old). Had occasional fuse box / electrical problems. Almost a POS because of that but I have fond memories of that car thanks to my very lovely Costa Rican girlfriend from the day. Sold cheap to a friend for his HS daughter.

'87 VW Scirocco 16V. Picked up on tourist delivery and driven from the Dolomitis to Paris. Best driving car I ever had. Not a POS but I needed a second car so I could go to the store for parts. Traded in on a...

'92 Ford Explorer Sport 2WD. Great vehicle. Death in the snow. Traded in on a...

'96 Ford Contour SE V6. No babe magnet but with a manual transmission it was almost entertaining to drive. So cheap I was able to travel the world with the money I didn't have to put out for a car. Donated at 115K miles.

'01 Saab 9-3 SE. Got to be fairly high maintenance at one point but still a great car. Absolutely not a POS. Sold.

And the three we own right now:

'04 Mazda6 wagon. 125K miles. Manual. No issues. Great car.

'06 Saab 9-3 SC. 52K miles. Great car. No issues.

'10 Saab 9-3 SS. 17K miles. Great car. No issues.

My father, however, will tell you about all the POS cars he drove including two '63 Ford Falcons, a '72 Ford Torino, and the worst -- a '86 Chevy Celebrity 'Euro.' Maybe he taught me to avoid POS cars by example.
