The biggest POS I have ever owned sits in my driveway as I type this, slowly seeping gearbox oil from cracks in the case. A 93 9000 Aero with 150,000 miles. Looks can be deceiving as the car has aged well cosmetically, but I have never had a car with so many problems. And I used to own one of the biggest money pits of all time, an e32 BMW 750il.

While the 9000 served as my daily driver, I spent nearly every day off work under the hood, dash, or under the car itself. If it could break or fall off, it did. Eeuro and various flee-bay venders loved me. UPS and Fedex paid me a visit at least once a week bringing the parts needed to keep it running until the following week. From TCS issues to the now dead transmission, it seamed as though nothing was safe from failure. And some parts failed more than one in less than a year!

I practically gave the car to my father three years ago when I bought a 9-3 Aero. After that car subsequently burned to the ground, I foolishly bought the 9000 back after my brother left it for dead in an apartment complex parking lot(that's another story). I started to sink a lot of time and money into the car, but when I thought I neared an end, something else would happen. The problems usually compounded and would almost never be related.

About a week after I spent a ton of money on tires, wheel bearings, steering components, and a new fuel pump, the transmission decided to blow up in spectacular fashion. In a way I was somewhat happy, yet angered since I had just spent money on parts. I am almost certain the stress this car has caused me expedited the open heart surgery I had in May to repair an ascending aortic aneurysm.

On the flip side, the best car I have ever owned is a 91 SPG that I rescued from Pick N Pull and rebuilt myself. Fifty thousand miles and a cross country trip later, its still trucking along without a single hiccup. The best part about it is that absolutely everything on the car still works and its approaching 220,000 miles.
