If one has a cash flow that's stable and will hopefully increase, then financing a car is not bad, but know that you're losing money as the car depreciates. If you can afford the monthly nut for the next 2 to 6 years and can keep it at a reasonable level then it can make sense. But don't forget that when the warranty ends you'll still have car payments.
I'm self employed and income can vary, so as a practical matter payments don't always make sense. I keep cars a long time, and almost always buy them used (had 2 new cars in 40 years--kept one 10 years one 20). Over time, I really don't think there's a real advantage in buying new unless you will be putting a lot of miles on it and want those first few years to be under warranty. Getting a good used car is fine and even if you finance payments can be reasonable.
