I don't see how earning a debt-free masters degree is a bad thing in any way. As the prior poster points out, college can be more about learning to learn vs. learning a specific skill. Then again, as you get into it more, you may find there are aspects that you like. When you are young, 2 years is a long time. As time goes by, 2 years is a blink of the eye.
While earning your degree, you should try to figure out what you really want to do. You think you want to make movies. Do you know anything about this career? Do you have any first hand knowledge of the work this job requires? In my experience, every job, not matter how cool it appears on the outside, has its bad points and boring/mundane tasks. If you think a job will be wonderful all of the time, you will continually be disappointed. This is why they pay you.
I don't know anything about making movies, but I do know my cardiologist started school as a film major... and, for whatever reason, he's now a great cardiologist... Minimally, this proves one can make drastic changes in career, and making movies isn't for everybody (otherwise, everybody would be doing it).
