The whole Mac are more expensive than Windows argument always blows my mind. The stability of the platform, lack of viruses and malware, and more reliable hardware surely must save a ton of money in the long run over employee downtime and IT costs maintaining Windows machines. Conceivably there could be training costs for folks used to Windows, but learning a Mac is no harder than learning an upgrade of Office - which as far as I can tell typically consists of moving the windows around. I use both platforms and they both have their advantages, but when I have to deal with something like No Snaab's redirect virus, I sometimes have a hard time thinking of the advantages of Widnows :) I think when Macs shifted to the UNIX based OS, it did away with whole lot of the disadvantages of OS9.
LINUX is a great solution too. Like a Mac, take a few hours to learn it and you'll save a lot of headaches from Windows down the road. No Microsoft Office/Outlook support is probably a pain, but I'm sure there are compatible alternatives to this.
I'd really like to see more corporate environments shift to Mac or Linux. Like a lot of companies, we're still on XP. It sucks, and with a lot of remote employees the vulnerabilities and instability of the platform are even more evident.
