I've said it before, and not to malign the deceased, but if I was to pick Gates or Jobs as most likely to aspire to "World Dictator" it's Jobs, no question... I do not own an iphone, pad, or even pod... what good is iTunes when I can drag and drop FLACs (or just about any format, but I dislike compression) onto my Rockbox'ed sandisk... there is no black and white however...

Macs do have their place + I can see why some like them. A fair bit of it (for many) probably has to do with aesthetics... and fair enough... I program, and I'm not afraid of working with hardware, so to me, a Mac is cute, but not really advantageous... actually, all the "toaster" stuff makes them a bit more of a pain in the neck... but for some, it makes all the difference in the world from a user experience... fair enough!

I have used Linux in various incarnations (starting almost 2 decades ago). I have an older linux box sitting next to this desk. I haven't tried the latest + greatest distributions (and maybe I should!), but I would say that what I have used was sometimes good + sometimes useful + sometimes faster, but sometimes not, and usually not quite up to my mainstream needs but sometimes "good enough"... I do use gimp, but it ain't photoshop...
