My wife gets the newest car (we always buy used) and she insists on some type of wagon or hatch. It would have been a 9-3SC, but the jury is gonna be out on that pending parts and servicing issues. My indy has an OK handle on the electronics, but too much is up in the air at the moment. So she could wind up in something like a Ford Escape, maybe a hybrid. Long way from a 9-5, but the car matters less to her. And it's 2 years out, so lots can change.
My 9K will migrate fully to hobby car status and I'll likely inherit her wagon. Her 9-5 only has 106K on it now, so by 125K or so it will probably be my daily driver. But then I can get a fun toy, like a Miata or classic Saab 'vert. It's nice not having to need a car to commute!
But no BMWs or Audis, thank you. They are nice and I like the looks of the Audis, but are over-rated, the upkeep is ridiculous and the entry price past what I'm willing to pay for a car. And both are largely status symbols, sorta like a Lexus.
