Our first Asko front loader washer lasted for 15 years. The last 10 with multiple kids in the household so it did multiple loads every day so it was more like 20+ years of wear and tear based on the increased duty cycle. Just got our second. Very efficient 1200 rpm spin and top temp of 205F. Does take 220v power and only a cold water supply (on board heater) - an expense to have the cables run and the socket installed but IMO worth it. Yes, they are not cheap, but they are a good value over the long haul.
Never had any issues with mold on either one. I think that is a problem with front loaders produced by companies that used to only make top loaders and think they need to get in on a fad. For an analogy think how GM decided to get into diesels back in the 1970s by modifying a gasoline engine and how that worked out ...
