Bosch + energy efficiency Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Wed, 21 Mar 2012 09:56:57 In Reply to: Washer and dryer, looking for a quality unit-Speed Quee, EricG, Tue, 20 Mar 2012 16:22:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We have 10 years on a Bosch Axxis set + it still works great. Smaller load sizes, but energy efficiency is off the bottom of the scale for both the washer + dryer.
Washer has been flawless. The only minor issue we had with the dryer was some tiny % of lint misses the trap + gets into the rest of the dryer, including the heating element. There is a sensor that detects a problem there (probably overheating) and shuts the dryer off... so after 10 years of heavy use, I had to open the back (a dozen torx) + clean it out + reassemble, after which it works perfectly again...
One thing I noticed is that many of the "American-style" front loaders are more energy efficient than the top loaders, but nowhere near as efficient as the Euro models. That was 2 or 3 years ago, and things may have changed, and also one should account for load size, but I thought I would point that out. Our 10 year old Bosch setup uses maybe around 1/2 the energy (iirc) of the 2 year old Whirlpool front loader setup in the extended family. The whirlpool can take a much larger load, but rarely sees loads larger than the Bosch does anyway...
