I'm 61, my wife passed on last year, so I've had plenty of occasion to ponder how to spend what time remains. I'm a lawyer with my own office, haven't "run the numbers" in any disciplined fashion, but I think I don't really need to work for financial reasons. I've just focused on what I want to do, rather than looking to external resources.
Fortunately I love my work and don't want to retire, but I do want to cut back and spend more time traveling, visiting family and friends, riding my bicycle, xc skiing, etc. I don't want to move so no worries about relocation. Physical fitness and athletic activity are important to me and I want to ramp that up - for example, I intend to ride my bike more and harder this year and do some challenging stuff. There are some charities I want to contribute to as well. I know I wouldn't be happy with a permanent vacation - some seem to be.
So my approach is first to figure out what I want to do, then see if it is feasible. Obviously there are finacial planners, real estate agents, etc. to help with specific logistical issues, but I don't know who other than yourself can tell you what you want to do.
Good luck, there's a lot of potential out there.
