Comparatively to GM there are few US jobs impacted, and compared to the percentage of "Saab" employees, a low percentage of US jobs. Considering everything on his plate, that this is an election year & the current Washington partisanship unless the Swedish government raises the issue why would the US President get involved?
I feel for the Saab employees, and don't fully understand GM's hard line position, if its not a negotiating tactic. But any pressure on GM, or even to get the US Administration's attention, should certainly come through the Swedish and/or national governments of the bidders. Heck, it might be better off trying to bring it to the attention of any large (non-government) GM shareholders as GM leaving money on the table (look just what a 6% shareholder in Yahoo did).
