Global warming was always correlated with rising CO2 level, even before humanity evolved from apes, heck, before even monkeys evolved. Sea water has much higher CO2 content than the air, and rising temperature reduces CO2 solubility in water.
Current earth temperature is certainly not the highest ever. When reptiles dominated the earth's land mass, the temperature had to be much higher in order for reptiles to have a competitive advantage over warm blooded animals. When giant insects dominated the earth's land mass, the temperature had to be higher still. Mammals and birds evolved warm-blooded body as a strategy to cope with cold weather: the cold blooded animals are sitting ducks before their body temperature is raised high enough to enable biochemical reactions.
If you think the temperature rose the fastest ever in the last half decade, then you are essentially declaring humanity burning oil has nothing to do with rising temperature. The world oil consumption has stagnated in the past half decade since 2007.
