My next door neighbor is a physicist whose expertise is in communications. An FBI agent knocked on our door out of the blue and asked us questions about him since he needed some clearance for government sponsored research. They are clearly looking for signs of any family problems - the questions are entirely geared around that. When we responded that he is a well respected family man in the neighborhood, who is obviously a devoted husband and father, the agent seemed satisfied. He then asked us if we knew what the physicist did for a living. We both shook our heads negatively and responded that we knew he was into communications, but neither of us was ever brave enough to ask him any questions for fear of sounding so stupid compared to him. The agent then thanked us and left.
