The work I enjoy most, Construction Management, is populated by a lot of experienced gray beards looking to work for just a few more years, as well as recent college grads. Not as strong of anti-age bias as in other lines of work. In some cases you uncover construction means and materials not in any text book anymore and the old eyes are invaluable for identifying what was discovered.
I left at 56 on my terms because I didn't want to be forced out on someone else's terms at 58 or 59. My former employer is famous for shedding employees after they reach their mid-50s. In the old days it was with a Golden Handshake, now it is just a boot in the butt.
Monday I had three hot leads and it looked as if I might have three job offers within the next ten days. No contact from any of the three leads yesterday but all are still strong possibilities.
Ups and downs but progress none the less. I am fine, just would like the search to end soon.
