My employers Lincoln has adaptive cruise control (which has been around for some time) which will slow you down for traffic then speed back up again--I think it's great. Fifth Gear just tested cars with systems that automatically brake when they sense a car or other obstacle (including pedestrians) in your path. Volvo appears to have the best setup. It's doesn't cost a lot of money and if it saves you from one accident it's worth it's weight in gold. I'd certainly get it. A lot of cars now have setups that will parallel park automatically. I think it's kind of silly but it's really a pretty miraculous feat. I use my share of computer aids--cruise control on the highway, GPS, anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, etc., if the car could do the steering for boring highway slogs too, that would be great.
