Personally, I find the styling of the 9000, and especially the first generation version, much more appealing than any of the current Buicks. I find Buick's current styling much too busy, with huge hunks of chrome in the wrong places, big Buick logos the size of grapefruits fore and aft proclaiming "I am a poseur!", dashboards with dozens of buttons with non-obvious functions arranged symmetrically vs. ergonomically, distracting dashboard appearance with too many materials/shapes, etc.
Perhaps I am used to a different design aesthetic. And I really try to like Buicks: my first car was a Buick Skylark, and a car like the Regal Turbo does check off a lot of boxes for me (turbo and manual trans). But somehow, I can't make the style work for me. I suppose they sell well in China - are they now the arbiters of our taste?
