Modern autobody work... Posted by GFW3pedals [Email] (#405) [Profile/Gallery] (more from GFW3pedals) on Wed, 13 Nov 2013 07:25:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Been decades since I had any bodywork done on a car. I have about 3 fist sized patches on the rockers under the doors of a non-Saab vehicle that I'm thinking of getting fixed by a local shop. They are not perforated from what I can see,but the paint is bubbled up pretty bad, so I'm not sure if they go all the way through to the inside of the "box" of the rocker, or even if there is a box at all. I can only assume that the rust started from the inside and worked it's way out to bubble the paint. I was going to attempt this myself with a 4" grinder and naval jelly or something to neutralize the rust, Por15 etc. Too cold now to do it. The car is a beater, so I'm not looking for perfection, just hate rust. What should I expect price-wise? What should I expect as a guarrantee that I won't see rust there anymore? 3 years? 5 years? I'm thinking ill own the car another 3-5 yrs barring any major mechanical or other mishaps. Thanks!
