A very similar thing happened to my 2000 9-3. I bought it new in 2000 and then in spring 2005, I was rear-ended waiting at a stop light by the person sitting behind me (not paying attention, of course) who just drove into my car. I could not even buy another used 2000 9-3 for what they wanted to settle for, so they totaled the car, I bought it back and netted around $8800. The damage was all sheet metal and the rear bumper cover (worse than yours from what I can see in the photo). I ended up getting it fixed and am still driving the car today at 218,000 miles.
I shopped around for a good deal on the body work and ended up about breaking even including the rental car while the work was done. I was willing to fix it because I intended to keep the car. It's your call if you do the same. The equation is a little different now that your car is older, but it can be done.
