At 60 mph my 2000 9-5 5spd was turning around 2,300 rpms which is great for fuel economy at 40+ mpg. I hardly loose any motor oil but when the speeds kick up it can run down quickly with no PCV#6 update. For my Verano I just removed the pcv so it wouldn't gum up throttle body and intake with oil.
With today's direct injection cruising with light throttle on relatively flat surface 1,000 rpms isn't out of question with still have some acceleration. The 2.0T 6spd is at 2,000 rpms at 70 mph. I normally cruise at 1,700 rpms when I can.
