60mph, revs are really low, well under 2000 on our 2004 arc. We normally cruise at 70mph, and revs are low - don't remember exactly, but low 2000's at most. This is what makes it a good touring car. The power band is very wide, so they really don't need more than 4 gears. Turbo is significantly responsible for that. Once you get up over 70mph, wind resistance affects mpg a lot, probably more than gearing/rpms in these cars.
I agree with others though, in that I hate driving (Asian usually) cars with narrow power bands and geared such that downshifts are required every time you want to pass or go up a hill.
