Preemptive maintenance? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Thu, 7 Aug 2014 12:37:03 In Reply to: Re: Saab 9-2X vs Outback XT vs 9-5 vs 9000, RodM, Thu, 7 Aug 2014 05:29:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The reason that people are afraid of keeping high mileage cars is that they believe that they will have an imminent mechanical breakdown and get stranded in a dangerous/inconvenient location. If you want to keep your 9000 as your wife's daily driver, maybe you need to preemptively pump some money into it to avoid the most common pitfalls:
1. At 200K, you are probably going to need another fuel pump sometime soon; maybe do it now.
2. Water pump?
3. Serpentine belt and tensioner?
4. DI cassette?
Maybe others have additional ideas.
