I've owned four of them and there's nothing that remotely compares to the 9K. Probably never will be. That said anything with 200K probably isn't the best wife-mobile. Maybe you should swap with her. I've had a number of Subaru's as a dealer and recently owned an '05 Outback LL Bean with the six cylinder engine. I liked it at first, it was fast as a Saab and handled decently. But I quickly grew to not liking it at all (which I've detailed here on more than one occasion). It was pretty troublesome and worst of all, like most Subaru's it was a real gas hog--I get better mileage with my Wrangler city and highway. There are cars that have some of the feel of a 9K, like a Bentley, S class MB, big Audi's and BMW's, but I can't think of anything that I'd actually recommend you buy.
