First, don't into dealers - IF you've already driven and decided on the car you want.
Why would anyone want to deal with the annoying salespeople - many who cannot negotiate - and do the running back and forth game.
Car dealers know this, with the internet being so important they have salespeople devoted to selling cars over the internet.
I understand that there are others that disagree with my strategy, that's okay - My strategy works for me and has for years. Before the internet - there was the phone - negotiated on the phone.
Some here say that you can't negotiate with dealers that are 200 miles away - I agree. With most makes (even Saabs 10 years ago) there were many dealers to chose from - same today - unless you live in the wild.
Negotiating from what 'they think' is a price you've received from another dealer - is the way to go. I've purchased cars that have been sold for quite a bit less than the prices we all see on the online sites.
Of course - as someone stated in this blog - if you purchase a 2014 rather than a 2015 - it should be less. Make sure it's enough less to make sense in future years when you may want to get rid of it. Sometimes dealers don't sell those cars for much less than they will 'the new model.'
Good luck in your negotiations - remain calm - it's a business transaction, don't get excited - sellers work off of emotions.
