Well I'm not about to put your speculation to the test - I do know that when you take a hard fall and you can feel you helmet smack the concrete - and yes the impact deforms the helmet - it's really really likely something would break - that being your skull. Concrete just doesn't give much at all. One accident involved hitting a curb and flying over the handlebars - the 1st impact was shoulder and upper back landing and then the head being jerked violently back and hitting the pavement with a good deal of force. The saving grace of that accident was that it happened not too far from a High School and 3 lovely HS gals saw it, stopped got out of the car and came over to check me out, that certainly help to clear the cowebs.
