What you say is true... I've really never had a collision with another skier (I usually ski faster than everyone else, so if I had a collision it would most likely be because I hit them!). Straddling gates was my downfall (racing). But yeah, even surfing - non-surfers think we worry about sharks. nah, couldn't care less... but the other guys on boards, they're kinda scarey sometimes! And I suppose the rocks/coral just a couple feet under the surface. I've actually seen the occasional guy in the lineup wearing a helmet. Again, seems strange to me even if it might be safer...
but yeah, I always wear a helmet when I bike nowadays...
