Vague Performance Improvement Plans are ripe for a suit Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 24 Apr 2015 16:36:48 In Reply to: Very OT: (long) Employment decisions. But looking at your options they seem to be:
1) Leave an unhappy work situation somewhat voluntarily, with a short term benefit package, and a permanent work record that says "Resigned".
2) Stay at an unhappy work situation until you find something better/different, leave with no benefit package, and a permanent work record that says "Resigned".
3) Stay at an unhappy work situation until their Performance Improvement Plan runs its course, be forced out with no benefits, and have a permanent work record that says "Released".
Your aren't happy there, your new Manager does not like you there, and they are making some efforts to ease the financial consequences of your transition out. Unfortunately, it looks like you have one mediocre to good choice, two bad choices, and no really good choice.
I may be in the same boat soon. Although the company I work for is great my assigned plant, and specifically my assigned Dept, have some ugly warts. My second level Manager is clearly not keen on me and my first level Manager has recently become hands-off toward me. My goal is to transfer out to another location by year end via self-nomination.
Does your company offer something similar to a Self Nomination process for job transfers? This may be an option #4 for you.
