Where ever you decide to go I'd strongly suggest you take it slow as far as auguring yourself in there. Every place has it's bad traits and you might be surprised. We lived in Aspen for two years and while you'd think it was some kind of Nirvana based on real-estate prices, there were a number of things we didn't like about. And rent for a year or two until you get a better sense of the place. There's a lot of little wrinkles to a town that you won't know about until you've been there a while. Just one little example: go to Aspen in the summer and it all looks good. But during the winter the clouds hang over the south side of town constantly. Plus you're in the shadow of the mountain (low sun). So you get no sun all winter, it's awful. The other side of town gets sun all the time--huge difference. Take your time, go slow, get to know the place before you make a big commitment you can't easily get out of.
