Okay I know the answer to this depends on 100 different things, but I'm just curious about others' experiences...
A few months ago, my wife who works in the IT field changed jobs (as in, went to a different company). She took a fairly substantial pay cut, but the new position offered a lot of flexibility in work hours, ability to work from home, and so on. And up until this morning she was happy with the arrangement. Note that none of those things were specifically promised to her in writing, they were just standard company policy that applied to everyone.
This morning they had a company meeting and everything changed. Without going into detail, almost all the flexibility has been taken away. As usual in cases like this, the reason for the changes was not stated.
My question is, has anyone who has been in a situation like this ever tried complaining to a manager or HR department? I'm not talking about serious things like taking legal action, but just informally saying "hey, I'm not happy with this". This isn't the first time she'd had to deal with this kind of thing (not this specifically but reduction in benefits) and has switched jobs several times as a result, and it's getting kind of old!
I should add that this company (like most of her previous employers) is small and privately held... this isn't a takeover or buyout situation or anything like that.
