Tapping into the Saabnet Brain Trust of varied life experiences again.
My wife and I are still a little too young to qualify for residency/purchase in a CCRC facility but we can foresee a future time when it may be in our best interest to be a resident. One neighbor, about our own age, said the greatest gift her parents gave her was when they voluntarily moved into such a facility. Our two sons will likely be living somewhere other than the local area as we age into our 70's (still a decade plus away), our siblings are the same age as us, neices and nephews are nearly non-existant as most siblings had no children, my wife's annoyance level arthritis will continue to progress and eventually become somewhat incapacitating, our two story home with it's yard and pool will become more troublesome to maintain, etc. Lots of reasons to consider a living arrangement where we remain active and independent but with a built-in safety net available when something happens to either of us.
Not too much is published about CCRC's, even the AARP on-line articles are brief or won't load, but I assume these arrangements cannot be right for all people. Does anyone here have experience? Either as a resident themselves or as a relative or close friend of a resident?
Good and Bad, we need to know it all.
Thanks,
