I can see how having fewer things to think about in the cabin might ease one's mind and make it easier to focus on eg scanning the outside world (we have lots of moose and deer up here)... I find evening/night time driving more difficult... it's partly the contrasting lighting, but also the need to constantly scan the woods for large wildlife can become tiring. That's one of the things that caps the end of a long drive for me. If I get up really early and go, I can pack in a lot of miles, but evening is tougher and, for me, time to rest.
