> Get a Chevy for $5000 OR LESS and drive it for YEARS AND YEARS/
So accurate. I have owned three Suburbans and a Tahoe, the most expensive is a '99 Suburban I own currently and bought in '14 for $2800. It had 168k on it then, and I think 182k now. The other trucks had well over 200k when I sold them. The last I sold was an '84 diesel, which virtually paid for the '99 I now have.
The '99 is almost always the vehicle I use to drive to SoCal (about 1000 miles round trip) as it gives the dog room to move around on the road. Never skips a beat. It's not an inspiring drive, but it tows, hauls, and cruises great. It goes to Tahoe and SF regularly - although I've only racked up 14,000 miles in three years, it's almost all long-distance drives.
Nothing against the Ridgeline, but dollar for dollar you'll get more truck and lower repair bills with a Chevy. Of course, if you're not looking for a truck, but rather a car with an open bed, the Ridgeline may be an excellent choice... unless I can interest you in an El Camino!
