I picked up a used 98 mazda b4000 4x4 with 82k miles on it for $2500 last year. I did have to put about $2000 into it, as it needed tires, brakes, fuel pump, and a couple of minor things, but I've put close to 20k miles on it, and it has been perfectly reliable, and because its older, I don't care when I use it as a truck. I could not bring myself to use a 40-50k truck as, well a truck. Scratching up the pain, and all that. I used mine to move my family this summer from one house, into storage, and then into a new house, and of course it got a few bumps and scrapes, but who cares?
and I can bring my 3 older kids around with me all over the place. Even done a few off roading trips with it.
