Pick up trucks are "'murican".....I am old enough that I have trouble taking Japanese pickups seriously! Even those full size ones....just copies of the real thing!!
1.12 million pickups were sold in the USA last year......and only 78,000 were Tototas and Nissans........TOUGH MARKET and smart buyers in my opinion.
And now Mercedes has a mid-size pickup called the X Class they are introducing for 2018......but they will not bring it to the USA......why? because it is a mid-size and they know it would be killed in the ultra competitive US market.
AND IT IS A NSSAN!!! According to Automobile magazine, the Mercedes pickup sits on the same platform that underpins Nissan's NP300 Navarra mid-size pickup. However, the NP300 Navarra isn't available in the US. Nissan is still selling the 13-year-old previous-generation version of the truck as the Frontier.
That means Mercedes-Benz would have to work out an arrangement with Nissan should it choose to sell the X-Class in the US.
