but rather with our insurance regulations. Here's a radical thought: shouldn't I be responsible for my own actions?
Why is the government responsible for making sure you and I are always protected from danger?
Whose fault is it if I replace my (hypothetical) Corvette with a Tahoe, then roll it into a schoolbus full of little kids because I didn't stop to think the SUV would handle any differently? Is it Chevrolets for producing an unsafe vehicle? Is it the schools for putting the kids in danger? Or would it be mine for driving like an idiot? Any civilized society would realize that the driver of the vehicle is the one responsible for the operation of that vehicle. "Unfortunately", the average person/driver does not have deep pockets, so little is gained by sueing them. Large corporations, however, do have deep pockets, so the legal guns are trained on them.
The problem with the vehicle safety issue these days isn't the vehicles, but rather the insurance racket and the legal system. Let's not even get into the issue of punitive damages!
