Why do people always want to race?

Is it the color of my car (red)? The fact that it's a Viggen? I was driving in a fully loaded Viggen (i.e., couldn't see out the hatch there was so much stuff in the car), and I passed an Audi A4 2.8 because he was going too slow. I also passed him on the right because he was driving in the left lane. All of the sudden he starts driving on my butt and fast. I was trying to catch up with my friend, so I was averaging 80-90 (I have a speed warning that comes on at 90, so I avoid going faster than 90). Somehow, he gets the idea that I'm racing, when all I'm doing is driving normally. I tried to lose him, but I have snow tires on the car and it was fully loaded. Even without this, however, any "race" between us would mean that we could easily hit 120+, which is way too fast when the surrounding traffic is going anywhere between 60-80mph. Perhaps he got the idea that I wanted to race him when I tried to lose him. However, there's no reason for him to suddenly jump from 70 to my speed and tailgate me. That's why I tried to lose him. Also, I have a radar detector in my car, and I will stomp on the brakes if it goes off. I don't want him smashing into me.
My point is, if you want to race, take it to the track. Even with light traffic, it's way too dangerous to race on highways anywhere in America.
