Bob: You have a good point about not racing on the street, but your description of your driving does not exactly give the impression that you were following the law. You said that you passed him on the right, because he was in the left lane. From your description of him,it does not sound like he was going under the speed limit, so for starters,a cop would have given you the first ticket for passing on the right.
YOu mentioned tha tyou were driving your car loaded down with so much stuff that you could not see out the back.Dosen't sound like the best formula for deciding to then go about 25-30 miles per hour OVER the speed limit! I will assume it was posted at 65,but even if it was 70,you were still the one speeding, regardless of his stupidity.Had you backed down to the legal limit, chances are he would have gone on his merry way, and not assumed that you were racing him. The fact that you were trying to catch your friend again says that you were the one trying to speed, regardless of what the Audi was doing. You describe what you were doing as driving normally.Does that mean 90 is normal? If so,you have just written up a description of about three violations that you performed, with the Audi getting one for tailgating.Perhaps you should go back and re-read your post and see if that sounds like responsible and legal driving.
