The epson can be used IP or LPR with the ethernet card, But then I forfiet PostScript, which I need. (I don't understand why this is the case)
Does this mean you cannot modify an entry in /etc/printcap to define a raw postscript remote printer. I have done this with a number of printers and printerservers under the sunOS Long long ago. It appears that Mac OS X supports this. http://www.cs.ucr.edu/%7Ejbyrne/macosx.htm
I suspect you tried this as in change a PPD to make the epson work in postscript mode which "should" be easy.
try choosing the PPD of a printer that has a feature set similar to your printer. Using a PPD that is not designed specifically for your printer may not provide access to all of your printer's features, and unforeseen problems may be encountered. Before choosing this workaround, check with the manufacturer of your printer to see if they have released a printer-specific PPD for Mac OS X.
Does your app need to know the printer def to dump the postscript file ?
It seems the low cost epson printers have drivers.
It also seems you are doing non-typical office printing.
It appears epson is working on it.
