The A4 is a nice, nice car, but heavyu, especially with quattro. That said, if yhou live in a winter climate, you might take the A4 with quattro -- I've been spending Christmas in Norway and about 3 days of constant snow have left a foot or more on the ground -- yet I drove 150 miles in an A4 quattro wagon with snow tires and not a single problem.
Jag XJ is, to me, an image and price problem -- rich old ladies with too much makeup, big ugly singlasses and over teased over bleached hair drive them. Nice cars, but not for me and not for a 27 year old. Besides, for the price of an XJ, you can get one of the other cars you mentioned as your primary car and then get a cheap Golf or something to haul Home Depot type crap around on the weekend -- a second cart that you don't mind beating up a little. Or you can get the M3 or the 540, which are far, far superior cars. I would totally steer clear of the XJ's smaller cousins -- the S-type and the X-type. The latter one is nothing but a tarted-up Ford.
I actually like the looks of the Caddy, nice step out from their traditional luxo-barges, but it doesn't interest me in the slightest beyond that.
The 330 is simply the best sports sedan out there, performance wise (unless you want the M3 or the 540 or M5). I hate BMW's and their4 image but you can't dodge reality -- they provide you the best, provided you're willing to pay $40K fully loaded for a 9-3 sized car (actually, it's even smaller inside than the 9-3).
The 9-3 Vector looks great, maybe a little down in the performance category at its price range, but a terrific car that I would have in my top 3 on looks and value alone.
The 9-5 Aero is probably the best value in its class, and the Wagon version makes it an even better value by adding great hauling capacity. Cosmic Blue, 5 speed, charcoal leather would b e my choice -- SWEET looking car.
I would also look at the G35 (sedan or coupe), Acura TL and CL (type S for both), and maybe the Volvo s60R (300 hp, awd, and the best front seats this side of a Saab) when it comes out later next year.
